Igor Jurak, Croatia

Igor Jurak received his PhD from the University of Wuerzburg, Germany studying the molecular mechanisms that limit cytomegalovirus cross-species infection. After a postdoc experience at the Robert Koch Institute, Berlin, he has continued to work in herpesvirus filed in the laboratory of Donald M. Coen at Harvard Medical School, and has contributed to the initial discoveries of miRNAs in herpes simplex virus. Currently he heads the Laboratory for molecular virology at the University of Rijeka studying non-coding RNAs in herpesviruses.
