Ana-Marija Domijan is associated professor at Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry University of Zagreb. Her scientific and research interests are toxicity and mechanism of toxicity of mycotoxins.

As researcher she participated in the work of several scientific projects studying toxic effects of mycotoxins on animal and human health, financially supported by Ministry of Science, Education and Sport of Republic of Croatia. As part of these projects she followed presence of mycotoxins in various commodities collected in Croatia as well as possible biomarkers of mycotoxins’ exposure in biological samples. She focused her work on mechanisms of mycotoxins’ toxicity, studying oxidative stress as mechanism of toxicity of ochratoxin A and fumonisin B1 on animal and cell model.

Education:

  • MSc in Toxicology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb
  • PhD in Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, University of Zagreb.

Professional career:

  • From 1998 to 2008 Research Assistant/Scientific Novice at Unity of Toxicology, Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health, Zagreb
  • From 2008 – now, Associated Professor/Assistant Professor at Department of Pharmaceutical Botany, Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry University of Zagreb.

Teaching activities:

  • teaches Cell Biology to undergraduated students at Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry University of Zagreb.

Scientific interests:

  • mechanisms of mycotoxins’ toxicity.
