Diethard Mattanovich

Diethard Mattanovich is Full Professor of Microbial Strain Design at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU) and Director of the Research Area “Systems Biology and Microbial Strain Design” at the Austrian Centre of Industrial Biotechnology (acib). His research interests are biotechnology of microorganisms, with a focus on production of recombinant proteins and metabolites with bacteria, yeasts and filamentous fungi, as well as systems biotechnology to study and engineer microbial physiology. In this field he has published more than 130 papers, 8 book chapters, and 19 patents. Diethard Mattanovich was awarded with the Dr. Wolfgang Houska Award of the B&C Private Foundation for his developments on the Pichia pastoris platform. He is Vice President of the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB), Member of the International Yeast Commission, and Associate Editor of Microbial Cell Factories.
