Luca Guardabassi

Dr. Luca Guardabassi holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pisa (1994) and a PhD in Veterinary Microbiology from the University of Copenhagen (2000), where he currently serves as Professor of One Health Antimicrobial Resistance. He is a de facto Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Microbiology (ECVM). Luca is a veterinary microbiologist with expertise in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the development of novel strategies to treat bacterial infections while minimizing antimicrobial use. His research has led to the publication of over 220 peer-reviewed articles, accumulating more than 19,000 citations and an H-index of 75. In addition to his research, he is actively engaged in promoting antimicrobial stewardship in veterinary medicine through graduate and postgraduate teaching and the development of clinical practice guidelines for antibiotic use. Among his current honorary roles, he serves as Vice-Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR).
