Professor Suzana Bukovski is an experienced specialist in clinical microbiology and specializes in disease prevention, diagnostic procedures, treatment of infectious diseases and prevention and control of health-acquired infections. She participated in the introduction of new methods in microbiology as well as in the internal and external quality control of laboratory work. She is also a teacher, scientist, invited lecturer at national and international conferences, member of the microbiological societies – ESCMID and its study groups ESGCIP and ESGBIS, member of the EMGM Society (executive committee member), Croatian Society of Clinical Microbiology (executive committee member two elections), Croatian Biosafety and Bioterrorism Society (executive committee member two elections) and Croatian Society of Infectious Diseases. Also, Suzana Bukovski is a member of the Commission for the Eradication of Poliomyelitis at the Ministry of Health of Croatia and one of the examiners at the professional state exam for laboratory technicians at the Ministry of Health of Croatia. Important areas of her interest are invasive diseases and nosocomial infections, especially in relation to multidrug-resistant microorganisms.
