12th Croatian Biological Congress with International Participation

Esteemed colleagues, dear biologists!

On behalf of the Organising and Program Committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to the 12th Croatian Biological Congress which will be held from the 18th to the 23rd of September 2015 at Sveti Martin na Muri located in the most northern part of Croatia within the beautiful region of Međimurje. For more than thirty years this congress has traditionally offered biologists and numerous scientists of related disciplines from Croatia and abroad the unique opportunity to gather together. This year, participants will be able to present the results of their research via oral and poster presentations within eight thematic sections (Genetics, cellular and molecular biology; Evolution, systematics, phylogeny and biogeography; Microbiology; Marine biology; Biology of freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems; Toxicology and ecotoxicology; Conservational biology, nature and environment protection; Comparative physiology, immunobiology and human biology). It is also with a great pleasure that we can announce four satellite symposia that will be held as part of this year`s Congress: 2nd Biology education symposium, 6th Symposium of the Croatian Society for Plant Physiology, 3rd Symposium of the Croatian Entomological Society and the 1st Balkan herpetological symposium in co-organization with Croatian Herpetological Society. Finally, as always, plenary lectures concerning the latest findings within biological sciences will be delivered by a number of eminent guest speakers. We also hope that you will actively participate in our round table discussions whose topics will cover important issues for all biologists and also in useful workshops we prepared for your benefit; both of which we hope will attract your interest and so help contribute to the creative atmosphere of the Congress. In order for you to relax and get acquainted with the beauty of Međimurje we have prepared the field excursion to the beautiful river Mura and the historical city of Čakovec during which time you will be able to sample the regional delicacies and taste fine quality wines.
