Tina Uršič

Res. Assoc., Dr. Tina Uršič, BSc Microbiology, started in 2004 as a PhD student in the Laboratory for Viral Infections at the Institute of Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. She is a dedicated postdoctoral research assistant with expertise and her main focus is clinical diagnostics of viral infections, viral dynamics, epidemiology, and molecular methods for respiratory viruses, especially HBoV1. She has worked extensively on the continuous surveillance of respiratory viruses in different patient populations, the development of molecular methods, the characterization of pathogens, and the genetic variability of emerging respiratory viruses. She is also part of the intervention team for counter bioterrorism threats. She is involved in several collaborative national and international projects and is involved in the collaborative European Non-Polio Enterovirus Network (ENPEN). Above that, she collaborates with professionals and institutions in infectious disease surveillance and was also on clinical and virologic refinement at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in 2012. As a research associate, she lectures on techniques in clinical virology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana.
