Prof. Lorena Jemeršić, PhD, DVM works at the Virology Department of the Croatian Veterinary Institute (CVI) in Zagreb, Croatia. She is mostly involved in investigating emerging and re-emerging viral infections of animals. However, her interest and expertise apart from transboundary animal diseases are zoonoses with the main goal to a better understanding of the human-animal-wild animal interface. Therefore, from 2008 until the end of 2009 she works at the Food and Agriculture Organization, UN in Rome as an international consultant, primarily for developing and implementing the One Health platform. She is involved in several scientific projects, mostly of emerging animal disease and zoonotic topics and coordinates international projects based on capacity building of the veterinary sector. She is also a member of several national advisory boards, and a professor of Virology and Microbiology science within doctoral and postdoctoral studies at the Veterinary faculty, University of Zagreb, Croatia. Currently, as a senior scientific counselor, she is the Head of the National Referent Laboratory for Classical and African Swine Fever diagnostics, molecular virology and genetics at the Croatian veterinary institute.
