Prof. Snježana Židovec Lepej, PhD is a Head of Department of Immunological and Molecular Diagnostics, University Hospital for Infectious Diseases „Dr. Fran Mihaljevic“ in Zagreb, Croatia and an associate professor of human infectious diseases at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. She graduated molecular biology at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb where she subsequently obtained her MSc and PhD. Prof. Zidovec is a Fellow of the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Immunology (ESCMID), has served as a member of the ESCMID Educational Subcommittee and is a scientific advisor in clinical medical sciences at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine. She is a principal investigator of a scientific project funded by the Croatian Science Foundation project and has been the principal investigator and researcher in national and international projects focusing on molecular virology and immunology, including projects of the Scientific Center of Excellence in Viral Immunology and Vaccinology. Her areas of her expertise include molecular epidemiology of HIV, viral hepatitis, CNS infections, infections with herpes viruses, resistance to antiviral drugs, cellular immunology as well as cytokine responses in human infectious diseases. She currently serves as the President of the Croatian Society of Biologists in Healthcare.
