The first head of the Institute was prof. Vladimir Bezjak, then prof. Zvonimir Gall, after whom followed prof. Bernarda \u0106ori\u0107 and prof. Miljenko Dori\u0107. On behalf of the Faculty, the Dean prof. Tomislav Rukavina, also a microbiologist, welcomed all the present. \u00a0Prof. Roberto Antolovi\u0107, the President of the Croatian Microbiological Society congratulated the anniversary, presented the Society and its current project, &#8220;In the Society of Microbes&#8221;, in which the Institute is one of the partners. \u00a0The head of the Institute prof. Maja Abram reviewed the 60 years of the Institute&#8217;s work and employees who spent longer or shorter period of their teaching, professional or scientific career at the Institute. The past and present scientific research at the Institute was presented by prof. Marina \u0160anti\u0107. \u00a0Marija Vuk, a student of the Faculty of Sciences and a volunteer in the project &#8220;In the Society of Microbes&#8221;, presented the project of community based learning from a student perspective. In the end, assoc. prof. Ivana Gobin spoke about 60 years of teaching at the Institute.
