The project “In the Society of Microbes”, as well as the concept of service learning, was presented at the round table “Service Learning in Microbiology”. The round table was held on Thursday, September 20th, 2018 in Sveti Martin na Muri, within the programme of the 6th Central European Symposium on Antimicrobials and Antimicrobial Resistance, CESAR 2018. This scientific meeting, organized by Croatian Microbiological Society, traditionally brings together experts in the field of antimicrobial resistance.
The moderator of the round table was Dijana Škorić, coordinator of the project “In the Society of Microbes”, and members of the project team members presented the project. Asst. Prof. Ana Bielen (Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb) had a talk entitled “Service learning and project from the perspective of a university teacher”, Marija Vuk (Association of Biology Students – BIUS) „Service learning from the student’s perspective“, Kristina Duvnjak (Association BIOTEKA) “Roles of NGOs in service learning projects”. Additional presentation was held by Assoc. Prof. Martina Đuras (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb), for the project “Blue Project – Contribution to the service learning development at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb.” The round table ended in lively discussion.
The aim is to contribute to the introduction, development, improvement and sustainability of service learning, as a part of the academical learning.
