Andriy Sibirny
Andriy Sibirny is Director and Head in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology, Institute of Cell Biology, NAS of Ukraine, Lviv, Ukraine,
Professor of Biotechnology and Microbiology at the University of Rzeszow, Poland, and
FEMS Director for Education and Public Engagements.
His education includes Master Degree in Microbiology, Biological Faculty, Lviv National University, Ukraine, a PhD Degree in Biochemistry, Institute of Biochemistry, NAS of Ukraine, Kyiv, and a PhD in Genetics, Petersburg University, Leningrad (St. Petersburg).
Andriy Sibirny works in the fields of cell biology and biotechnology of non-conventional yeasts. He studies autophagy and described several novel ATG genes involved in this process. In the field of biotechnology, he works on high-temperature ethanol production from xylose and glycerol, on glutathione, flavins (vitamin B2, FMN, FAD, flavin antibiotics) and recombinant protein synthesis in non-conventional yeasts.
