On Friday, May 17, 2019, a panel entitled „Competition, Collaboration and Teamwork in Academic-Industry Partnerships: Climbing a Mountain or Smooth-Sailing Journey?“ was held on which the project “In the Society of Microbes” was presented. The panel was held within the symposium „Power of microbes in Industry and Environment 2019“ in Sveti Martin na Muri (May 15-18, 2019). This is the 6th symposium which is organised by Croatian Microbiological Society until now.
Moderators of the panel were prof. Renata Teparić, PhD and prof. Anita Slavica, PhD. In the frame of this panel, asst. prof. Andreja Leboš Pavunc, PhD (Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology), the member of the project team and one of the mentors, has presented the project by giving the lecture entitled „Service Learning Project in Microbiology – a New Avenue Being Explored by the Croatian Microbiological Society and Its Partners.“ In addition to the project, the concept of service learning, as well as education of the mentors, volunteers and students on the project was presented. Two volunteers of the Croatian Microbiological Society, prof. Roberto Antolović, PhD and Domagoj Kifer, mag. pharm., helped to organize the panel. On the same day, May 17, MicroFair was held with exhibitors, meaning sponsors of the Symposium during which, Roberto Antolović and Domagoj Kifer distributed leaflets and additionally informed interested visitors about the project “In the Society of Microbes” on the stand of Croatian Microbiological Society.
